Temporary dog park will be opening in Queen Creek

A pop-up dog park will open at Founders' Park starting on July 1, while maintenance is performed at the town's Pocket Park for Pups.

The pop-up dog park will be open through Aug. 31, and it will be located on the north side of Founders' Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. There will be a designated area for small/timid dogs and a separate area for large/active dogs.

Parking for the small dog area will be in the northwest parking lot with access from Ellsworth or Aldecoa roads.

Parking for the large dog area will be in the Aldecoa lot on the east side of the park with access from Aldecoa Road.

All owners must keep their dogs on a leash from their vehicles until they are inside the temporary dog park.

Queen Creek’s Pocket Park for Pups, 22526 S. Ellsworth Road, is a heavily used and popular facility. The heavy use has a cumulative effect on the site, specifically on its ability for turf to grow, according to a press release.

The closure will allow staff to recondition the soil and conduct deep watering, giving the roots time to strengthen and grow deeper into the soil. The Pocket Park for Pups will reopen on Thursday, Sept. 1.
