Teen dies in Bell Road crash on Phoenix/Glendale border

Posted

A 17-year-old girl died following a crash Friday near 51st Avenue and Bell Road, Phoenix police said Saturday.

Officers responded to the collision scene on the border of Phoenix and Glendale and found Beyonce Vasquez, 17, with serious injuries, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

She was taken to a hospital but did not survive, police said.

Investigators learned that Vasquez was the passenger in a car with a teenaged male driver, the release stated.

“As they were making a left turn onto Bell Road from 51st Avenue, they were hit by an SUV going north. After the two vehicles collided the SUV was pushed to the sidewalk hitting an adult male in a wheelchair not causing any injuries,” officials stated in the release.

The car was also “pushed slightly,” hitting a school bus occupied by the driver who received no injuries.

The teenaged driver of the car was taken to the hospital by family members for precaution during the investigation. No signs of impairment were reported by any of the involved drivers, police said.
