COVID-19, projects, financials lead discussions

With fiscal year 2020-21 halfway complete for the Recreation Centers of Sun City West, now comes the time to update the community.

A mid-year meeting was conducted by association officials Jan. 13 at the Palm Ridge Recreation Center, 13800 W. Deer Valley Drive, but broadcast virtually on the Recreation of Sun City West’s YouTube channel.

General Manager Bill Schwind addressed the community with a presentation on the passing of Proposition 207, which legalized the possession and use of marijuana for adults age 21 years or older. Individuals were permitted to grow no more than six marijuana plants at a residences, as long as the plants are within a lockable enclosed area and beyond public view. Additionally, revenue from the tax was divided between community college districts, municipal police, sheriff and fire departments, fire districts, the state’s Highway User Revenue Fund and a new Justice Reinvestment Fund.
