Surprise’s first major furniture store is now open with the unveiling of the American Furniture Warehouse on May 10.

The store officially opened the day prior when city and company officials gathered for a ribbon cutting at the store at 16600 W. Waddell Road.

American Furniture Warehouse CEO Jake Jabs, President Jackie Brookshire and Surprise store manager Jeremy Dennis were among the company administrators at the event.

Mayor Kevin Sartor helped cut the ribbon along with Councilmembers Earle Greenberg, Patrick Duffy and Johnny V. Melton.

On grand opening day, customers were given the option to round up their purchase total to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to St. Mary’s Food Bank.

AFW plans to donate up to $5,000.
