INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A 22-year-old man died early Sunday morning after being shot at a home near 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, Phoenix police said.
A 16-year-old boy was detained and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on a homicide charge, police said.
Officers responded about 2:45 a.m. Aug. 4 to the home and found Luis Angel Carranza with at least one gunshot wound. Phoenix Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced him dead.
Detectives took over the investigation and said preliminary information indicates the shooting occurred at a birthday party where the victim was involved in an altercation with the suspect before he was shot.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
