As Sun City’s winter visitors head back to their summer homes, the community’s governing agencies will also take a break.

The boards of directors and committees for Recreation Centers of Sun City and the Sun City Home Owners Association will not meet in July or August. Both agencies will resume regular meetings in September.

“The RCSC Board of Directors does not meet in July and August,” Joelyn Higgins, RCSC communications and marketing coordinator, stated in an email. “Neither do committees, though some have elected not to meet in June either.”

The RCSC board will meet two final times before the break — the member/director exchange 9 a.m. Monday, June 12 at Lakeview Recreation Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd., and the regular board meeting 9 a.m. Thursday, June 29 at Sundial Recreation Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave.

SCHOA’s board will meet once more before the break, according to Carole Studdard, SCHOA executive director. That will be the board’s regular business meeting 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 27 in the meeting room at the SCHOA office, 10401 W. Coggins Drive.

“The Roads and Safety Committee will not meet again until September,” Ms. Studdard stated.

Sun City Community Assistance Network’s board of directors will not meet in June, July or August.

While boards and committees will take a summer break, it will not be completely silent in the community. Both RCSC and SCHOA have summer activities on the calendar.

RCSC will host two concerts — 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 7 at Sundial, a Marty Robbins tribute; and 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 at Sundial, an Elvis from Hawaii tribute. RCSC will also host the annual Ring That Bell ceremony 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 4 at Bell Recreation Center, 16820 N. 99th Ave. There will also be an ice cream social 6 p.m. and dive-in movie at dusk Saturday, Aug. 12 at Mountain View Recreation Center, 9749 N. 107th Ave.

SCHOA will continue its new resident orientation and CC&R workshop schedule during the summer, according to Ms. Studdard.

A new resident orientation is scheduled 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 at Palmbrook Country Club, 9530 W. Greenway Road. The next CC&R workshop, co-sponsored by SCHOA and the Sun City Condo Owners Association, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13 at Fairway Recreation Center, 10600 W. Peoria Ave.

In addition, SCHOA will host a workshop addressing how to beat the summer heat 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6 at the SCHOA office, 10401 W. Coggins Drive. The workshop will be presented by Banner Boswell Medical Center staff.

“Currently, several business partners have scheduled workshops during the summer months,” Ms. Studdard stated.
