Two men were arrested in connection with a shooting in Goodyear.

The incident happened Sunday at the Burger King near Yuma Road and Sarival Avenue.

According to Goodyear police, an employee was confronted by an irate customer and, fearing for his safety, left the scene in his vehicle.

The customer got back in his vehicle where a passenger waited, police said. They proceeded to chase the employee's vehicle west on Yuma Road.

The alleged suspects caught up to the victim at a red light. Police said the passenger pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds into the victim’s vehicle while he was inside. The victim was not injured.

The suspects then fled the scene. According to the victim, he did not know the suspects.

Within 48 hours of the incident, detectives identified Moises Ramirez and Benny Aros Jr. as the suspects and arrested them without incident, police said.

Both were interviewed and admitted their involvement in the crime, police said.

According to court documents, the pair had become upset when they returned home from Burger King and noticed one of their sandwiches appeared to have bite marks.

“Aros said he was very angry that the victim had tampered with his food due to the coronavirus and does not know why he decided to pull the trigger, but that he was simply trying to scare the victim,” according to court documents.

Police said Aros Jr. was booked on charges of attempted murder, drive-by shooting and aggravated assault. Ramirez was booked on threatening, disorderly conduct, and drive-by shooting charges.

Aros Jr. was jailed in lieu of $250,000 bond.
