Scottsdale Police Department conducts driver safety detail through June 5

Posted

To enhance traffic safety, the Scottsdale Police Department will support the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Buckle up Arizona Enforcement campaign.

The Scottsdale Police Department will contact drivers for safety belt and child restraint violations, according to a press release, noting enforcement efforts hope to impact driver behavior and get them to buckle up.

In Arizona, over half of all fatal vehicle crash victims were unrestrained. If the occupants were properly restrained, most would still be alive, the release said.

From May 23 to June 5, the Scottsdale Police department will support the important national safety initiative. Officers are encouraged to increase their enforcement of safety belt and child restraint laws; increase seat belt use and save more lives.

Remember to buckle up every time you drive and remember to properly buckle up children in the appropriate seat for their age and size, the release added.
