The Riva Yares Gallery will present the work of artist Rick Levinson beginning Saturday, Feb. 16.

Titled “A Collection,” the exhibition will run until Wednesday, March 6.

There will be an opening reception noon-4 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the gallery, 3625 Bishop Lane, Scottsdale.

Works on paper and large scale works on raw linen will be shown, as well as a light interactive metal, sculptural wall piece, according to a release.

This will be the first solo installation of Levinson’s work in Arizona, although he has been showing internationally since the 1990’s, the release stated.

“I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to be shown in this beautiful and distinguished setting,” stated Mr. Levinson, who works primarily from his studio in Tempe. “I am eager to tell my stories.”

Mr. Levinson is an artist and a pulmonary/critical care physician. He has been a medical school faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania, and he has served as the medical director of the intensive care unit at the Honor Health Osborn Medical Center.

“His work often reflects these parallel, intense life journeys. His art is about the telling of stories, where the intensity and the nature of his medical career serve as origination points for his deeply personal works,” according to the release.

“I have often been asked whether I wanted to make a choice between my art career and my medical practice. In point of fact, I believe that my medical experience is the well from which I draw the water.”
