North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, 11735 N. Scottsdale Road, invites families to its annual blessing of the backpacks at 10 a.m. August 10 for those returning to school.
To add a fun twist to the ceremony, the Fellowship Center will transform into an 18-hole miniature golf course. Putters for kids and adults, balls and score cards are all provided, according to a press release.
In addition to the blessing, the church is collecting back-to-school supplies to help local students through Vista del Camino Recreation Center in South Scottsdale start the year prepared and confident. Families are encouraged to bring donations of new school supplies — from notebooks and pencils to backpacks and lunch boxes — to help support children in the community.
