The 1,000 Pounds Club recognizes organizations that donate 1,000 or more pounds of food to the nonprofit during any single drive,.
While the nonprofit hosted 800 food drives in Arizona last year, only 28 organizations supplied donations that qualified for the 1,000 Pounds Club. St. Vincent de Paul typically distributes 50 pounds of non-perishable food items per family served, meaning that HomeSmart’s donation alone helped feed approximately 25 Arizona families.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has served communities in central and northern Arizona since 1946. The nonprofit’s extensive programming includes housing and shelter for people experiencing homelessness, as well as general assistance for families and individuals living in poverty: charity dining rooms serving thousands daily, medical and dental care for uninsured patients, distribution of food boxes and the operation of thrift stores throughout Arizona.
