School is out but big tests remain for Arizona teens

PHOENIX – State transportation officials expect the usual boost in driving permit tests now that school is out for the summer.

The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division has provided a resource for test takers and their parents including the Arizona Driver License Manual and free practice tests at https://azdot.gov/mvd/services/driver-services/teen-drivers/permit-test-home.

Aspiring drivers must be 15 years and 6 months old to apply for an instruction permit.

First-time drivers younger than 18 have a few options for taking the written test. Most choose to take the test online on the MVD site.

The permit test also is offered at MVD office locations.

Participating Arizona Professional Driving School trainers also administer the written test, officials said.
