The holiday season saw The Salvation Army Glendale Corps Community Center distribute nearly 15,000 toys (donated by the local community) to more than 2,400 children in need, provide over $7,500 to help struggling neighbors pay their utility bills, feed hundreds of hungry people, and more.
Though the busy holiday season has passed, volunteers are needed year-round. The Glendale Corps – located at 6010 W. Northern Ave. – needs volunteers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, to accept donations in the food pantry and provide food to hungry people in the community.
Other volunteer opportunities include data entry and receptionist duties.
“We cannot do such good work without the help of volunteers,” said Major Ellen Oh, Glendale Corps Officer. “Volunteers are the army behind The Salvation Army.”
Scheduling is flexible, and training is available.
Residents who would like to give of their can stop by the Corps to speak with Major Ellen Oh or email her at Ellen.Oh@usw.salvationarmy.org.
