Saddleback Communications recently delivered 500 new backpacks and 500 water bottles to Salt River Elementary School as part of its back-to-school drive. Salt River Elementary School is a tribal elementary school located on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation that serves first through sixth grade students.
The backpacks are clear and come in two different sizes with linings of various colors. With about 250 students enrolled in the school, each child will be able to receive two backpacks. The water bottles will encourage students to stay hydrated. As Arizona continues to navigate high heat warnings, it is essential for all youth to be equipped with a water bottle and consume water regularly.
