RV, boat storage planned on Cactus Road in Peoria

Posted

A RV and boat storage facility is planned for a 5.6-acre parcel near the northwest corner of Cactus Road and 75th Avenue.

The Peoria Planning and Zoning Commission approved a conditional-use permit to allow for this use that will consist of six individual buildings and about 79,700 square feet of enclosed storage units, a leasing office and outdoor RV and boat storage.

The outdoor RV and boat storage will consist of 60 spaces, of which 35 spaces will be covered.

The permit review is to ensure compatibility with the surrounding area, and that the use is not creating a negative impact to the health, safety, and general welfare of the community, according to a city document.

The subject site is zoned intermediate commercial (C-2) and has been farmed as an alfalfa field for a number of years. The zoning category requires a conditional-use permit for a mini-storage facility with outdoor RV and boat storage, subject to limitations identified within Subsection 21-505.D.1 of the city’s zoning ordinance, the document said.

Applicant Brandon Henry, with RKAA Architects, requested approval of customer access to the facility be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Staffed office hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
