Posted
SUN CITY WEST - Born on July 26, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisc., Rosemary Bosch came into the world when Warren Harding was in the White House and lived well into the 21st century. Her parents were of Irish and German heritage and she grew up in a German parish in Milwaukee, learning the frugal ways of a Depression upbringing and the good study habits of 12 years of Catholic schooling. During WWII, she met USN Lieutenant Leo William Bosch, Jr. of Steubenville, Ohio, and they married in Milwaukee on Dec. 18, 1943 - on 10 days notice - owing to Lt. Bosch's orders to go to sea on an aircraft carrier in Bremerton, Wash. They honeymooned at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, then took a train to the west coast. They had six children, Randon, Leo William III, Kathleen, Michael, Mary, and Thomas and lived in Waukegan, Ill., Oil City, Pa., Lewistown, Pa. and Munster, Ind., retiring to Sun City West, Ariz., in 1982, where she lived until 2010. She lead an active life in Sun City West and was known to many people. Rosemary was active in various social, charitable, and church organizations during the course of her adult life. She was an active bridge player and golfer and traveled in the USA, Europe and Australia, especially in her later years. She toured Europe in the early 2000s with the Our Lady of Lourdes church choir of Sun City West. The highlight of that trip was performing for Pope John Paul II in The Vatican. She is survived by daughters, Randi of Baltimore, Md., Kathy of Pleasanton, Calif., and Mary of Lake Oswego, Oreg.; and sons, Michael of Sydney, Australia, and Tom of Atlanta, Ga. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and by her brothers, Jack of Sun City West and Gene of Milwaukee, Wisc. Rosemary spent her final few years near daughter Mary, living in an assisted care facility in Portland, Oreg., where she passed into eternity on Mar. 9, 2015. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations in Rosemary's name be sent to Cedar Sinai Park-Robison Home, a nonprofit assisted care facility at 6125 SW Boundary St., Portland, Oregon 97221. A Celebration of Rosemary's life will be held in Sun City West in Spring. Please contact tbosch61@outlook.com for details.
