Iya Agha from Paradise Valley was among the New York Institute of Technology students who showcased their scholarly work at the annual Symposium of University Research and Creative Expression on April 14.
At the institute’s New York City campus, 119 student research projects were shared in the form of oral presentations and poster presentations.
Oral presentations covered social impact topics such as the relationship between body positivity and physical health, solutions to greenhouse gas emissions in Puerto Rico, and student-led legislation to end the sale of over-the-counter weight loss and muscle-building products to minors.
Technical oral presentation topics included exotic DNA structures and its role in gene instability, genome sequencing of bacteria-infecting viruses (bacteriophages), and the use of bacteriophages to combat MRSA infections.
Students also shared poster presentations spanning a wide range of topics, including the use of cannabis in cancer treatment and the future of telemedicine.
