Reader takes issue with ICE letter

This is in response to P. Katrinka Johanssen’s comments in her letter about ICE deporting active service members because they “may be too brown to be considered American enough” and “I am third-generation Norwegian and believe it’s a good thing Norwegians are not brown or we could end up deported to a country whose language and culture we don’t know or understand.”

ICE is mandated by law to find and deport those here illegally and started with the worst of the worst. These criminals have caused loss of life, property and committed numerous other serious crimes such as rape, human trafficking, drug smuggling and distribution.

Rounding them up, processing them and deporting them will cost untold millions of taxpayer dollars that are not now available for other purposes.

P. Katrinka Johanssen should offer a written apology for statements I consider uninformed, hateful and racist.
