OPINION — I’m responding to William Ward’s letter opposing the tactics used by ICE that references my comments from an earlier letter.
Their mission is hard to disagree with, but that’s not the problem. He states his disagreement with “Masked, anonymous, kitted out for combat and overly aggressive. Causing injury and death to American citizens.”
To a degree I can sympathize. In a perfect world, ICE wouldn’t need any of this stuff. However, let’s examine real-world issues. ICE isn’t apprehending “Mr. Rogers” types. Their current mission is apprehending many tens of thousand of criminals, many with an assortment of violent records such as armed robbery and carjacking as well as DUI, child abuse and the list goes on.
