Phoenix youth theater marks 30 years of Winnie The Pooh Christmas

Holiday tradition returns Dec. 6

Posted

Valley Youth Theatre celebrates the holiday season with their annual production of “A Winnie-The-Pooh Christmas Tail.”

The musical runs from Friday, Dec. 6 through Monday, Dec. 23 at Valley Youth Theatre, located in downtown Phoenix at 525 N. 1st St., Phoenix.

Based on A.A. Milne’s cherished characters, “A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail” is a tale of friendship and kindness. Winnie-The-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and their friends in the Hundred Acre Wood come together to help Eeyore find joy during the holiday season.

Bringing this story to life is a team of returning local designers who transform the Hundred Acre Wood into a winter wonderland. Dawson Buckholz provides the lighting design, Tom Holmberg (VYT alum) delivers immersive sound design, and Karol Cooper creates costumes and makeup. Musical direction and accompaniment by Rebecca Joslin (VYT alum) add to the holiday show.

“This story embodies the heart of what VYT is all about — encouraging young people to come together, celebrate their unique talents, and make a difference in the lives of others,” Billie Jo & Judd Herberger Executive Producer Bobb Cooper shared in a press release. “At its core, it’s a reminder that even small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact.”

This year’s cast features 15 young actors from across the Valley:

Kylan Chait (Winnie The Pooh) of Guadalupe; Kaylah Magee (Piglet) of Phoenix; Vivian Paige Nichols (Eeyore) of Phoenix; Aiden Haren (Christopher Robin) of Phoenix; Ellie Evans (Rabbit) of Phoenix; Jaden Sparkman (Tigger) of Tempe; Olivia Fearey (Kanga) of Phoenix; Alexia Lade (Roo) of Goodyear; Charlotte Thompson (Owl) of Phoenix; and as the Woodland friends Mahagani Carter (Laveen), Taylor Kunich (Scottsdale), Santiago Lacey (Phoenix), Kingston Petty-Purcell (Phoenix), Savannah Thompson (Phoenix), and Colton Wilcher (Laveen).

Tickets are $25 and $27 and are available at vyt.com/tickets or by calling 602-253-8188.
