A Phoenix-based nonprofit that helps foster children has received a $70,000 grant that will them work on getting health care insurance and services.
The Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation received the grant from the BHHS Legacy Foundation and will use it for its Keys to Success program, which helps foster children with challenges in health care an getting careers in the medical field.
“Our organization is honored to receive this generous contribution, which will ensure that older foster youth will continue to access higher education, employment opportunities and housing,” said Luis De La Cruz, CEO and president of Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation.
The program is aimed at former foster youth age 16-26 to help them get a start at adulthood.
BHHS supports organizations aimed at quality of life issues in the Phoenix area and northern Arizona. It has given more than $110 million to nonprofits.
