Phoenix artist Victoria Lindley will present “Cryptic Nature,” an exhibition of paintings and clay works opening Friday, Dec. 4, at Five15Arts @ Chartreuse on Grand Avenue in Phoenix. The exhibition will be open weekends through Dec. 20.
Lindley’s work explores connections among nature, spirituality and the feminine, drawing inspiration from ancient texts, folk art, personal history and the natural world. She works primarily in acrylic on canvas, supplemented by sculptural clay pieces.
In “Cryptic Nature,” Lindley reimagines stories of female saints and martyrs through a contemporary feminine perspective. Figures and narratives appear within botanical patterns and abstract landscapes, while other pieces draw from lesser-known spiritual stories.
