A Peoria youth with an affinity for Legos has been named the state's Mini Master Builder for 2023.
Malachi Meers, 7, will take those skills to face off against 12 other local champions from across the country in an attempt to be named the National Mini Master Model Builder.
His winning entry, which showed off Arizona's five Cs, took 55 hours to complete over several weeks and was made up of more than 3,500 Lego bricks.
The build requirements for his task were to create something that represents where he was from. Malachi's project included part of the Grand Canyon, a citrus orchard, a cotton field and cattle in a pasture.
The 12 national contestants each represent one of the Legoland Discovery Centers. Arizona's center is located in the Arizona Mills mall in Tempe.
