The Arizona State Historic Preservation Office will begin accepting applications Thursday, Oct. 1 for its Route 66 Historic Revitalization Program, which provides grants to rehabilitate and reuse historic properties along Arizona’s Route 66 corridor.
The program is supported in part by a Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant from the National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Fund and is intended to support preservation and economic development in rural communities.
Grants of up to $100,000 are available to local, county, state and tribal governments, nonprofits, and commercial businesses. Eligible projects must be in communities with fewer than 50,000 residents, require a 20% funding match and involve properties listed on or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places that have served Route 66 travelers. Applications will remain open until mid-December.
