Peoria Police chief finalists narrowed to four

Peoria Police chief finalists narrowed to four

After a nationwide search, the city of Peoria has selected candidates to interview for the police chief position, and has narrowed the candidate list to four finalists.

The finalists are:

David Farrow has been a police officer since 1997. He has worked in Gurnee, Illinois; Peoria; and most recently in Goodyear, where he serves as the deputy of field operations.

Thomas Intrieri has served the Mesa Police Department for 28 years. He is the Red Mountain Division commander, which is comprised of approximately 40 square miles, serving 154,000 Mesa residents, with 146 police personnel.

Marcel Spaulding serves as a deputy police chief for the city of Peoria. He oversees the operations division, including patrol officers, patrol services officers and crime analysts. Before coming to Peoria, he worked for the city of Phoenix for 30 years, retiring as a commander.

Douglas Steele serves as a deputy police chief for the city of Peoria, with more than 26 years of policing experience. He currently oversees the support services division. During his career, he has served in a variety of positions developing an understanding of the complexities of department operations.

Peoria Police Chief Art Miller announced his plans to retire later this year. The city received and reviewed 30 applications for the position. The first round of interviews were held Oct. 9, and additional interviews and meetings with Peoria employees were held on Oct. 10.

The city expects to announce a new police chief in November.
