Peoria offers free bulk trash service after monsoon

Posted

The city of Peoria is offering free bulk trash service to households impacted by the severe Aug. 18 storm.

The collection service will be available to households near the areas of Cactus Road to Olive Avenue and 75th to 91st Avenues.

Collection will take place on Aug. 27. To schedule a pick up, please call the Solid Waste Division at 623-773-7895 or email solidwaste@peoriaaz.gov.

“This is what community is all about – stepping up to support each other when we need it most,” Mayor Cathy Carlat said. “Peoria employees and first responders have been working tirelessly to help residents impacted and I’m proud to see one more program to support families as they recover from last night’s damage.”

The bulk trash program provides a pick-up of large, bulky items that do not fit into residential trash containers. Below are few additional tips:

• Residents are asked to place all storm-related debris (including trees and broken materials) on the curb directly in from of their home.

• Tree limbs must be cut into four foot sections.

• Do not place items on private property or block the sidewalk or mailbox.

• Please do not combine bulk trash into one large community pile.
