Peggy Lorrayne Samuelson (Polzin), 85, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026. Peggy was born on August 14, 1940, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Claude and Lorrayne Polzin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Robert and Richard, and her sister Millie Jo. A lifelong learner, Peggy earned her Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and Doctorate from South Dakota State University. She devoted her career to education, spending many years as a dedicated elementary school teacher in the Bloomington School System in Minnesota, where she touched countless young lives through her passion for teaching. Peggy had a deep love for travel and adventure. She visited nearly every state in the country, with Alaska and Hawaii among the few remaining destinations on her list. Her travels also took her throughout Europe, Canada, and Mexico. She enjoyed card making, diamond art, and all things creative, and she was always eager to learn something new. Those who knew Peggy will remember her feisty spirit, adventurous heart, and wonderful sense of humor. She was the kind of person who said yes to experiences, whether that meant riding roller coasters with her grandchildren at Valleyfair, checking a hot air balloon ride off her bucket list, or getting her first tattoo well into her 50s. She approached life with enthusiasm and curiosity and inspired those around her to do the same. More than anything, Peggy cherished her family. She and her beloved husband, Jeffrey E. Samuelson, shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey E. Samuelson; her daughter, Erica Baker; her grandchildren, Joely and Brynn Baker; and many beloved cousins, extended family members, and friends. To her grandchildren, Peggy was a constant source of joy and encouragement. She loved sharing adventures, from trips to Yellowstone and afternoons spent bowling, playing Bunco, attending art festivals, and creating arts and crafts together. She never missed an opportunity to cheer from the sidelines at sporting events and was always one of their biggest supporters. Her kindness, laughter, creativity, and unwavering love will be remembered forever. Memorials may be directed to Palm West Community Church, 13845 W. Stardust Blvd., Sun City West, AZ 85375. Services planned at a later date.
