Overnight lane, ramp restrictions set for Sept. 9-10 on Loop 202

Posted

The Arizona Department of Transportation will put up overnight lane and ramp restrictions tonight on Loop 202-Santan Freeway between Gilbert Road and Val Vista Drive.

The restrictions start at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, and end at 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

The  restrictions include east- and westbound Loop 202 being narrowed to two lanes. The eastbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Gilbert Road and off-ramp at Val Vista Drive will be closed. The westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Val Vista Drive and off-ramp at Gilbert Road will be closed.

Motorists traveling on Loop 202 may consider exiting ahead of the closures by using Cooper or Williams Field roads.

The restrictions are needed so crews can apply the new lane striping, which is one of the last activities before opening the new Lindsay Road traffic interchange.  The interchange is set to open Sept. 15 after a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the morning.

ADOT urges drivers to plan ahead for detours and travel delays; slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the restrictions are in place.
