One parking lot opens, another closes in Gilbert's Heritage District

Dirt lot at Juniper and Gilbert closed for development

Posted

Gilbert has opened a new Heritage District parking lot as the dirt lot at Gilbert Road and Juniper Avenue has closed.

A new 250-stall free public parking lot is now available on Vaughn Avenue just west of Ash Street.

The parking lot on the southwest corner of Gilbert Road and Juniper Avenue has been sold to a private entity for the construction of Heritage Park, a mixed-use development that is scheduled to start construction later this year. The property is no longer available for public parking.

Demolition on the Burger King, also on that site, has begun.

The town released a map showing the updated parking options in the district, a popular dining and recreation area.
