Bernadzikowski, 85 SUN CITY WEST - Norbert A. Bernadzikowski passed away peacefully on March 12, 2016. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Norbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. As well, for the last 20 years he has been a beloved breakfast partner, joke teller, story swapper, travel partner, and golf partner to all of his many, many wonderful and close friends in and around Sun City West. He was an immediate friend to anyone he met always sharing a kind word or greeting, a humorous comment or joke, or a courteous gesture. Norbert was an avid Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Orioles fan from days of old, and a devoted Arizona Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks fan since moving to Sun City West in 1996. He will always be remembered for his incredibly quick wit, dry humor, and self-effacing attitude. Norbert always knew exactly how to say the wrong thing at the right time – which was always actually just the right thing to say that endeared him to so many, and made him wonderful to be around. Norbert cared about everyone - whoever they were, wherever they came from, whatever they looked like, and whatever their views. Norbert was a special man with a life well-lived, well-loved, and leaving a legacy of humor, kindness, friendship, and love. Norbert was a soccer standout and a 1948 graduate of Mt. Saint Joseph's High School in Baltimore, after which he served in the United States Navy from 1949-1953 during the Korean War. He was based out of Moffett Field Naval Air Station in California. Norbert later had a long and successful 43 year career in the shipping and trucking industry in sales, operations, and management in the Baltimore metropolitan area. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lillian Bernadzikowski. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita Bernadzikowski; son, Richard Bernadzikowski and daughter-in-law Laurie Bernadzikowski of Ellicott City, Md.; son, Thomas Bernadzikowski and daughter-in-law Ann Grunert of Chesapeake City, Md.; and grandchildren, Jennifer Garrett, Lisa Gambardella, Nicole Bernadzikowski, Maria Bernadzikowski, and Anthony Bernadzikowski; and great grandchildren, Zachary Garrett, Austin Garrett, and Aiden Gambardella. He is also survived by his brother, Bernard Bernadzikowski and his wife Gertrude of Severna Park, Md.; his sister, Adele Pittman and her husband Donald of Pasadena, Md.; brother-in-law Joseph Mierkiewicz of Baltimore, Md.; and thirteen wonderful nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass is scheduled at St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Drive, Sun City, Ariz. on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
