No foul play in worker's fall to death at VAI Resort in Glendale

Posted

The Glendale Police Department responded  just before 3 a.m. Monday morning (Dec. 16) to a death investigation at the VAI Resort under construction south of State Farm Stadium.

When police officers arrived, they found a person died after falling approximately six stories. Once it was determined that nothing criminal took place the investigation was handed over to OSHA.

The deceased individual is identified as 22-year-old Tyrone Tyre Wilson.

Details are limited as to what precipitated the fall.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident involving a trade partner’s employee that occurred earlier today on the construction site located at Route 101 and Cardinals Way,” stated Todd Mack, the Chief Business Officer of Fisher Industries, in an interview with azfamily.com. “Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the individual involved. At this time, we cannot comment further until we receive the results of the investigation which is in-progress.”

In July, VAI announced phased openings starting in 2025 after originally projecting a 2024 opening. Mattel Adventure Park on the resort's campus announced on Oct. 28 the opening date for the theme park would move from late 2024 to 2025 as part of VAI’s phase one opening.
