New medical facility opens in Surprise; offers inpatient, outpatient behavioral health services

Members of the Surprise City Council joined business leaders for the Feb. 7 ceremonial ribbon cutting at Destiny Springs Healthcare, 17300 N. Dysart Road, a behavioral healthcare center.
The 90-bed facility encompasses 67,566 square feet and was constructed for $24.5 million.
City leaders had previously toured the facility and Surprise Mayor Skip hall praised the project as valuable and needed for the community.
“Destiny Springs is a quality project and it’s going to add a lot of jobs in Surprise, high-paying jobs,” Mr. Hall said. “As far as I know, the only other behavioral hospital in the West Valley is in Avondale. This brings another component to the northwest Valley that’s needed, so I’m very happy about it.”
Behavioral health treatment services are provided inpatient at the Surprise facility and also outpatient for adolescents, adults and geriatric clients.
Services offered include individualized treatment plans, medically monitored detoxification, recreational therapy, psychopharmacology, medication management, among others.
Longtime Arizona resident and behavioral healthcare expert Martin Newman, M.D. founded Destiny Springs, which is helmed by CEO Burton Carriker, who brings 35 years of experience in behavioral healthcare services to the new facility.
The Surprise location will employ 250 medical, support and administrative professionals at full operation.
