Phoenix native Bob Diercksmeier has unveiled his newest works of art in exhibition open now.
“Time & Place: Contemplations on Landscapes and Color” is on display at The Gallery at The Madison in The Madison Center for the Art’s lobby, at 5601 N. 16th St., in Uptown Phoenix.
The exhibition, on display in the lobby through June 7, celebrates local landscapes, timescapes and the limitless power of colors.
Diercksmeier has always had a love for the Arizona landscape and began his career as a freelance illustrator, art director and fine art landscape painter. He started his own graphic design company in 2001, but recommitted to his fine art efforts in 2015, focusing on contemporary representational landscape paintings and drawings.
Diercksmeier then expanded his subject matter in 2018 to include a more abstract representation of the landscape. Starting in 2020, he began a new series of works that focus on color interaction, using non-representational shapes and fields of pigment, juxtaposed with and layered on top of each other to create differing results using the same colors.
“The rhythm and harmony of the desert, and the perseverance of life in its extreme environment are the primary inspirations behind my work,” Diercksmeier shared in a press release. “I strive to give a sense of vitality and magic to the southwest’s desert in every piece I create.”
The Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays or by appointment, and is free to the public.
