National Weather Service declares excessive heat warning for Valley

Temperatures could top out at 112 degrees through Oct. 4, causing the National Weather Service to put in place an excessive heat warning for Maricopa and Pinal counties.

NWS officials said the temperatures have the potential to cause life-threatening illnesses.

They advise residents of both counties to limit time outdoors, drink plenty of water and check on family and friends who may be more vulnerable to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
