Money raised varies in Surprise council race

Hastings has $156K to spend; Judd spent none this quarter

The three Surprise City Council candidates who ran unopposed in this year’s primary election all took different routes to get to the same spot.

In campaign finance reports released July 15, the three incumbent council members — Nick Haney (District 1), Jack Hastings (District 5) and Chris Judd (District 6) — carried vastly different campaign balances into the July 21 primary.

Hastings finished the recent cycle with a war chest of $156,000, a massive sum for a city council election, especially one run unopposed.
