Mesa woman to honor late husband, organ donor at Fiesta Bowl Parade

Families of organ and tissue donors, as well as recipients, will join Donor Network of Arizona for the annual Fiesta Bowl Parade.

They are to march the route in central Phoenix Dec. 28 starting at 10 a.m. because they can walk again, see again, breathe again, or want Arizona to never forget their donor heroes, according to a release.

Mesa resident Marie Bernard Johnson will walk the parade route with a photo of her late husband who passed away in 2020 and saved and healed others through organ donation

“Stephen was love unleashed,” says Marie. “He was an amazing human being with immense love for humanity, nature and animals.”

When Stephen passed in 2020, Marie knew he had the opportunity to make that impact he always wanted on the world. Through organ donation, Stephen gave the gift of time to three people, and helped improve the lives of many through research donation.

“As a human being, one of the greatest gifts you can give to someone is life,” says Marie.

Donor Network of Arizona fulfills the lifesaving and life-healing mission of organ and tissue donation as the state’s federally designated organ procurement organization. Sign up to be a donor at DonateLifeAZ.org. Follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @DonateLifeAZ
