Mesa teacher reaches finals for national award

Teachers of Tomorrow has named Jennifer Qualls a finalist for its 2023 teacher of the year award.
The sixth-grade teacher in the Mesa public schools systems joins eight other finalists from around the country.
Each finalist received $500 and a six-month professional development membership to SimpleK12, according to a release.
The winner receives $5,000 “to improve their classroom and incorporate new learning opportunities” and a year-long membership to SimpleK12, the release stated.
“Each Teachers of Tomorrow 2023 Teacher of the Year finalist has shown a passion and drive to make a lasting and visible impact on their students,” Dr. Heath Morrison, CEO of Teachers of Tomorrow, said.
