Mesa Ranger District responds to Tonto fire

Firefighters from the Tonto National Forest Mesa Ranger District have responded to a wildfire east of State Route 87.

The fire is along Forest Service Road 11.

Multiple resources are engaged in fire operations, according to authorities. Aerial resources have been ordered.

The northbound lanes of State Route 87 will be closed.

“Thru traffic should look for alternate routes. Please be cautious when using Forest Service Roads as alternate routes. They are not always suitable for most vehicles. Fire is visible from State Route 87, please use caution when traveling through the area,” Forest Service officials stated on a social media site.
