Mass casualty training event to take place in Scottsdale Saturday
Police partners with local entities for closed-to-the-public event

The Scottsdale Police Department is hosting a reality-based training for a mass casualty event on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Cocopah Middle School.
This training is in collaboration with the Scottsdale Unified School District, HonorHealth, and the Scottsdale Fire Department, according to a press release.
This all-day training will be closed to the public.
The purpose of the training is to educate, train, and maintain safety proficiencies and partnerships with other agencies and stakeholders within the city of Scottsdale. The scenarios are created to be a learning environment for public safety personnel and staff from partner organizations.
Participants in the training are from state and local valley police and fire departments, as well as parents, students, and administration from SUSD.
Nearby residents may hear loud noises of simulated gunfire or explosions, which will be part of the training exercise.
