Mary Ellen MacConnel

Mary Ellen MacConnel, 91, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. She was a long time resident of Sun City West. Born on October 12, 1933, Mary was a proud graduate of St. Joe's High School in Saginaw, Michigan. She built a dedicated career working with Michigan Bell’s business office and later contributed her talents to Schrader's Medical Supply and Saginaw Medical. Mary was a devoted wife to her late husband, Dale Bradley MacConnel. She was also a cherished mother to her sons Joseph (Janet) MacConnel, Michael (Susi) MacConnel, and Thomas (Linda) MacConnel. Her family grew to include her grandchildren Nicole MacConnel, Ian MacConnel, and Nathan MacConnel and great-grandson River Fike. She held a special place in the hearts of many nieces and nephews, especially her Aunt Helen Johnson whom she spent hours with as a child and throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ina Johnson Packard; her brothers Russell and Gerald; and her sisters Betty and Donna. Mary found joy in life’s simple pleasures—her faith was a guiding light throughout her years. She enjoyed bowling, reading books, watching movies and television, and most of all, gathering with family and friends. After moving to Phoenix, she returned yearly to Saginaw to visit family and friends. Those who knew her remember her as a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, and friend. In accordance with her wishes, no memorial service will be held. The family encourages donations in Mary’s memory to the hospice organization of your choice. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
