Maricopa County saw another large jump in COVID-19 cases as 2,613 new cases were reported on Thursday, according to the Maricopa County Department of Health.
That increase continues a trend of see-sawing numbers after the county reported lower numbers on Wednesday. Total cases in Maricopa county now stand at 184,533 as of Thursday.
The county also reported 15 deaths on Thursday for a total of 3,850.
The increasing numbers have pushed up the county’s seven-day average number of cases, which stands at 1,574 as of Nov. 15. The seven-day average for deaths rose to 8 as of Nov. 2. Reports of deaths typically lag behind cases by two to three weeks.
During the county’s summer spike, cases reached 3,809 cases in a day on June 29. The county is experiencing another surge, but case numbers in recent days, with last Friday’s high of 1,495 cases, just crossed a third of the worst day in the summer. The current surge shows no signs yet of slowing down.
