Man dies in fall from parking garage in Gilbert's Heritage District

Posted

A 19-year-old man died Monday night in a fall from one of Gilbert's Heritage District parking garages, police said.

Mubasher Masood fell about 56 feet from the top of a garage at 30 E. Vaughn Ave. to the sidewalk below, police said.

An investigation that included video surveillance of the incident revealed Masood to be allegedly intoxicated when he exited his vehicle, lifted himself to the four-foot ledge of the retaining wall and lost his balance, police said.

Masood was with friends when he arrived and tried to get on the ledge, police said.

Gilbert police arrived inside a minute and began efforts to save his life. Gilbert Fire and Rescue Department took him to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

Detectives from the Gilbert Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and are investigating the incident.
