Luther Tiger Valjean (Janes)

Posted
Luther “Tiger” Valjean (Janes), age 34, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on October 30, 2025, in his hometown. He was born on November 14, 1990, at Maryvale Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Tiger spent nearly all his life in Phoenix, a place that held his heart and roots. Known for his incredible work ethic, Tiger built a career in construction and the drywall trade. His attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship earned the respect of everyone he worked alongside. He was both physically and mentally strong, facing life’s challenges with resilience, discipline, and an unwavering determination to push through whatever came his way. To those who knew him, Tiger was a bright light—a man with a kind soul who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His sense of humor and goofiness could turn even the hardest day into one filled with laughter. Tiger loved watching comedy movies and shows, and his passion for heavy metal music—especially Pantera, Metallica, and Slayer—was a defining part of who he was. His signature devil horn hand sign was his way of expressing joy, connection, and pure Tiger energy. Above all, Tiger was a loyal and loving family man. He found immense joy in spending time with his brother, Griffin, and his nephews, Rocko and Odin, who brought out his happiest and most playful side. He was deeply devoted to his family and always there when they needed him. Tiger is survived by his father, Scott Janes; his brother, Griffin Janes; his sister-in-law, Kristina Janes; and his beloved nephews, Rocko Janes and Odin Janes. He will be remembered and missed deeply by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and shared with close family and friends once Tiger’s loved ones have had time to grieve and gather in his memory. As Pantera’s “Cemetery Gates” so perfectly says: “Sometimes when I'm alone, I wonder aloud If you're watching over me, some place far abound… Believe the word, I will unlock my door And pass the cemetery gate.” We love you, Tiger. We will see you again at the Cemetery Gates.
