Thanks to local grants and individual donations, Kristi’s Klimbers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the cancer community and women’s health causes, plans to provide 100 free 3D mammograms in 2022 to uninsured women.

The West Valley organization has partnered with Solis Mammography, which will be providing these key screenings to women in need.

Kristi’s Klimbers Foundation provides recovery care items (mastectomy bras, head coverings, radiation robes, etc.), free mammograms and other support to cancer patients.

Kristi Pease and her family have been impacted by cancer, like other families. Her father died of brain cancer at an early age and her family has lost numerous friends and relatives to cancer.

Pease was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and remains cancer free. She, like many women, skipped her yearly mammogram for a few years thinking she was too busy to get this much-needed screening. She fell into a false sense of security, believing she could not get breast cancer because she was extremely active and in good health.

Had Pease been more diligent about getting yearly mammograms, she could have caught her cancer earlier and possibly avoided two surgeries and several rounds of chemotherapy.

Pease realizes her prognosis could have been much worse and vowed to “pay it forward” and become an advocate for early detection and support others with their cancer journeys. With the help of her family, a board of directors and officers, she formed Kristi’s Klimbers Foundation in 2021.

Kristi’s Klimbers is an all-volunteer nonprofit, so all proceeds go to beneficiaries. The all-volunteer board of directors and officers fund the organization’s minimal annual operational costs.
