Posted
In Memory of Lillian Mavis Longley. Arizona lost an original Flagstaff native 1 year ago on January 25th, 2017.Lillian Mavis Longley was born April 4th, 1920 to Floyd and Josephine Longley in Flagstaff, AZ. She grew up in Flagstaff, graduated from Flagstaff High School, and went on to pursue a teaching degree at the then named Arizona State Teachers College, also in Flagstaff. She then lived out in southern California for a time, but returned to Arizona and worked as an Educator in the Phoenix school system. She retired to Sun City, becoming a Resident Representative in the Royal Oaks Community, where she had many good friends, also remaining active in the Arizona Democratic Party.Lillian loved the outdoors, golfing, animals, and was a supporter of improving wildlife habitat and environmental conservation. She had a zest for life and traveled extensively with her lifelong friends to the Oregon Coast, Alaska, Coronado Island, and the Laughlin Casinos, where she seemed to always have more luck than her companions. Or she could be found camping in the wilds of the South West with her best buddies, out of the back of her 1968 Ford Bronco. As per her request, Lillian was cremated, and her ashes scattered throughout her favorite Western landscapes. In remembrance of Lillian, please make contributions to the Arizona Humane Society or The Nature Conservancy.
