The R.H. Johnson Library and Data Center in Sun City West is 40 years old.

While many libraries around the country are losing patrons, that is not the case in Sun City West.

The library has grown to 14,000 square feet and more than 50,000 items—both print and digital formats. Everyone with a Rec Center card is eligible to check out books and use the many other library facilities.

In addition to books and magazines, the library offers computers for personal use, data resource center, and many digital publications. Virtual reality experiences are also available for users and is so popular that users must make reservations.

Most of the funds to run the library come from book sales and other activities of the Friends of the Library.
