Letters: Surprise should be mindful of City Center traffic

It’s too bad this project didn’t precede the major development now underway at Prasada. I understand they are two different concepts, but it’s going to be a steep climb for City Center to succeed in my opinion. I certainly agree that we need that identification and gathering place for residents, but let me give you a few of my concerns.

If you just plan on serving the high density residential nearby, fine, but ingress and egress is going to be a major problem. It already is.

Walkability is great in some climates. Here you can eliminate five months of non-walkable temperatures, which means people, if they come, will arrive in automobiles, which means parking availability will be paramount to success.

Will the small businesses survive this gap in pedestrian traffic? It seems parking is often underestimated by developers, let’s not make that mistake.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a City Center that is user friendly and accessible. As an amateur city planner and visionary, I wish the city all the luck in the world.

P.S. Why not insert an interactive fountain?
