Magicians do not like to have their secrets revealed to their audience.
Elected politicians are the same. So, this reveal should make them mad, except they apparently don’t care what we voters think. President Trump and Congress will shortly promote taxpayer enthusiasm for lower taxes, saying cuts can be made in programs, justifying the cuts to the rich.
They will then pass tax cuts, without identifying any government services to be cut. Then a little bit later, they will identify crises like terrorism, that need to be addressed by more expenditures.
Those costs will be handled by increasing the annual deficit, not by current taxes and therefore raising the national debt. Presidents Reagan and Bush one and two all did this, so it is predictable President Trump and the Republican Congress will do the same.
As voters, we can let our elected representatives know that this sleight of hand is not OK this time. Presidents Reagan and Bush one quadrupled the national debt during their tenures, but that didn’t get the voters’ attention.

President G. W. Bush doubled the debt again, if you count the aftermath of the financial crisis. That caught our attention. With a national debt nearing $20 trillion, doubling it during President Trump’s tenure would be a real problem. Don’t let them do it to us again
