Legacy Luncheon raises $400,000 for Sandra Day O’Connor nonprofit

The Legacy Luncheon honoring Justice Sandra Day O’Connor was a successful sell-out, with hundreds of attendees.

Presented by Ladies of the Court, the annual event benefits the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute For American Democracy.

Some 600 guests filled the Arizona Biltmore ballroom, according to a press release. Featured speakers included former White House Chef John Moeller and former White House Florist Laura Dowling.

Dowling’s presentation provided the audience an inside glimpse of historic White House China, First Ladies’ floral preferences as well as the legendary White House Christmas decor and State dinners, among other important events.

Chef Moeller shared images of White House cuisine and Presidential favorites. Guests received copies of their respective books, Floral Diplomacy and Dining At The White House.

Tabletops featured springtime centerpieces inspired by Dowling and the menu offered courses from Chef Moeller’s cookbook.

Co-Chairs for the Legacy Luncheon were Ina Manaster and Kolby Moffatt who helped raise over $400,000 in support of the Institute.

Founded by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor following her retirement from the U.S. Supreme Court, the Institute for American Democracy’s nonpartisan nonprofit continues her distinguished legacy and lifetime work to advance American democracy through multi-generational civics education, civil discourse and civic engagement.
