The land upon which the Higley Post Office sits has been sold.
The 1.7 acres of land at 3324 E. Ray Road, Gilbert, upon which the post office and its parking lot sit, was sold Oct. 26 by the James E. Holmes Revocable Trust to Western Postal Realty Holdings for $1.73 million, according to commercial real estate site vizzda.com.
Western Postal Realty Holdings is a real estate investment trust focused on investing in properties leased by the U.S. Postal Service.
The Higley Post Office formerly served the unincorporated community of Higley, which had a ZIP code of 85236. Higley mostly annexed into Gilbert in 2006, and other portions have become part of Queen Creek and Mesa.
The USPS did away with the 85236 ZIP code for physical addresses in 2007, but postal office boxes at the Higley Post Office still carry that ZIP code. The area otherwise is in 85296.
